Super-resistant bacteria from South Asia spreading globally

(UK - London) This end of super bacteria called "New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase -1" (NDM1), from South Asia. At least one of the patients are now resistant to all antibiotics. Similar cases happened in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands found that in Britain fled the hospital to recruit members are transmission mode.

Infected patients been to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other places plastic, transplant or cancer treatment, which certainly NDM1 source from South Asia.

NDM1 is the enzyme bacteria, is a kind of Enterobacter, and Escherichia coli and Salmonella which belong to the same class, it will lead to urinary tract and respiratory infections. It can survive in any bacteria, and affect the rest of the bacteria to produce resistant to most antibiotics, and majority of antibiotics couldn't able to deal with it, even "the critical moment" of the hydrocarbon mold vinyl with antibiotics (Carbapenems) is also unable to kill NDM1.

Therefore, once NDM1 combined with the dangerous virus, most likely to turn into a uncured super killer bacteria.

Cardiff University microbiologist Walsh in the medical magazine "Spike" wrote: "Obviously NDM1 will have the possibility to be a global spreading pandemic. This is a multi-drug-resistant bacteria, once in the global spread the antibiotic will be kicked off in the period. "

Although there are two kinds of special antibiotics can kill NDM1, but expected to be lapsed soon, and the development of new drugs may have a 10-year window period.

Globalization, international tourism, medical tourism and migration have led to NDM1 spread rapidly around the world. In United Kingdom at least five people die cause of NDM1.
