PUTRAJAYA: No death from influenza A (H1N1) was reported in the last 24 hours up to 8am Tuesday but 14 new cases were detected, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

Of the 14 cases, 13 were from three clusters while the remaining case was sporadic or isolated, the deputy prime minister said.

One was in the ICU and the rest were receiving outpatient treatment.

"The accumulated number of influenza A (H1N1) cases in Malaysia as at 8am this morning was 1,460, with eight deaths.

“Of the 1,460 case, 574 or 39.4 per cent were imported and 886, local transmissions," he said after chairing the meeting of the National Inter-Ministerial Committee on the H1N1 Pandemic here.

He said 1,410 of the patients had recovered and only 27 were still getting antiviral treatment in the hospitals, with 10 cases in intensive care, while 23 were receiving anti-viral treatment at home.

He said three of the patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) had high-risk factors with one being obese, one having just given birth and the third having low immunity. - Bernama
