A(H1N1): 10 new cases, all local transmissions, 9 from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM)

KUALA LUMPUR: There were only 10 new cases of Influenza A(H1N1) recorded on Thursday, all of which were local transmissions.

Nine of the new cases were from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Malacca, which Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai described as “alarming.”

“I am upset that the situation in Malacca is expanding and have directed Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican to personally attend to the matter,” he said on Thursday.

“The UiTM campus in Malacca needs to be monitored, and if necessary, some faculties may have to be closed temporarily,” he added.

The 10th case reported on Thursday was at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
