8 Students In Limbang Positive H1N1

KUCHING, July 17 (Bernama) -- Eight students of Sekolah Menengah Kerajaan (SMK) Agama Limbang have been reported positive Influenza A (H1N1) as of noon today, bringing the number of cases in Sarawak to 45 comprising 23 import and 22 local cases.

A statement issued by the state operations room said ten students of SMK Sains Kuching in Jalan Matang here were still waiting for test results whether they were positive H1N1 or not.

The results from the Medical Research Institute (IMR) in Kuala Lumpur were due tomorrow.

The two schools were ordered closed starting Friday and will only reopen on July 24.

Statistics by the Sarawak Medical Department showed that 17 of the cases reported were from Miri (seven import and ten local cases) and 16 in Kuching (12 import and four local).

Nine cases were reported in Limbang (one import and eight local), two in Bintulu and one case in Sibu.

Some 835 cases have been reported nationwide comprising 562 import and 273 local cases.
